Santa Cruz Bicycles was founded in 1993 in a space the size of a single car garage in the Seabright Cannery, in Santa Cruz California. Their first bike, the Tazmon, was a single pivot dual suspension bike that rattled established sensibilities and helped define our then- ethos of “simply advanced.” That bike was the cornerstone for a brand that was founded on the notion of doing things our own way in order to build the best. They have been rattling sensibilities ever since.

It all started in 1979 with a BMX rider and his father. Bill Danishek, a youth from Dayton, Ohio kept breaking his stems, so his dad Charlie who at the time was a toolmaker, went to work machining him a better stem that could handle the abuse of BMX riding. Soon other riders would see it and want their own. Riders demanded it, and shortly after DK “dad and kids” was born.
Since those early days DK has always had a great love and passion for all things BMX. All Frog bikes are designed with the child in mind. We continually modify our frames and components in collaboration with sports scientists at the Brunel University.
“Our bikes are not scaled down adult bikes, as children are not miniature adults. At Frog, we put the child into the centre and design our bikes around the child’s unique anatomy and his/her unique needs”.
